Mobile HQ, Crimbus.

Dribble dribble.

An overnight from Philly to Boston. We have left the Tower to Hall & Oates tonight. No doubt Daryl & John know it much better than we do. I woke around 5.00 and was unable to go back to sleep. The unpleasantness of BMG hovers close to me. Their efficiency in maintaining my affections is in directly inverse proportion to their capacity to collect my publishing royalties.

Now we appear to be approaching the outskirts of Boston.

What to say? The show at the Orpheum began well but seemed to fall apart. Trey's sound was not good for him. Probably, as bad for him as NYII was for me. And the guitarist stage right (he who is not in a spotlight) was hung out to dry on the running lines of Larks' IV.

We had a good soundcheck to get Elektrik tighter, and a few clicks faster. Larks' speeds up and by the time we hit the fast lines, they're very fast. But if we slow down when we hit them, I'm put out to dry for several bars until the band locks, or not. And sometimes not.

So, for me, an unsatisfying show to a generous and supportive audience in a classic theatre, one where awful things have happened to Crimson before, in 1974 and 1984.

The Team are climbing onto the Crimbus. We are leaving in convoy with the Crewbus for an overnight drive to Quebec. This includes the border crossing into Canada and these are not always smooth.
